Purchasing Code of Ethics

  1. Officers must perform their duties impartially.
  2. Officers must avoid situations in which their private interests, whether pecuniary or otherwise, conflict or might reasonably be thought to conflict with, their University of Melbourne duties.
  3. Where the interests of any family member (spouse, children, siblings, parents) are involved or where officers possess an interest, directly or indirectly, which conflicts or might reasonably be thought to conflict with their University of Melbourne responsibilities, or improperly influence their conduct in the discharge of their responsibilities, they must disclose those interests to their immediate supervisor who will direct that the officer not perform that duty. Should circumstances change after an initial disclosure has been made, information must be disclosed.
  4. Officers must not exercise any authority or delegation to enter into a transaction as a result of which that officer or any family member of the officer may directly or indirectly receive any payment, benefit, consideration, opportunity or reward (whether individually or as a shareholder, partner, beneficiary or joint venturer).
  5. Officers must not use information obtained in the course of official duties to gain directly or indirectly a pecuniary advantage for themselves or for any other person.
